I think this entire phenomena of critics panning the movie out is unfair. People should watch this movie and decide for themselves.

Its a visual treat for all the Bhai fans,Salman khan comes back to the big screen as the "dabangg cop" doesn't disappoint but on the other hand the movie lacks good story and new comer Saiee Manjrekar does a fine job playing the second lead, Sonakshi looks beautiful but fails again to deliver a good best part of the movie was Sudeep who played the Antagonist surprising the fans with his amazing acting skills,the action is good but the story lacks humour and motive.

Here are the following films I considered to be likeable as a movie lover since the 70's: Btw, I am being as unbiased as possible though I was an SRK fan prior to 2018. I am trying to include as many films I found watchable for each actor as possible (since this is a quantity vs. quality discussion) but some films despite being money-earners gave me Headache so not included. Salman Khan- Dabangg(excellent- a classic) Ek Tha Tiger(loved it) Bajrangi Bhaijan (especially putting it since everyone liked it) Sultan (one time good watch for me but A for effort) Tiger Zinda Hai (not as good as first, too much action for me but well-executed, lacks soul) Extra Credit- Dabangg 2 for being a generic actioner made to look better by third part. Total count- 5+1= 6 Films that truly hit the ball out of the park- 3( Dabangg, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan) Some may add Sultan. Aamir Khan- Dhobi Ghat, Talaash, Dangal, Secret Superstar (cameo but he added a lot to the film, loved his character) Films I HAVE TO include as I can understand why people might have liked them- PK and Dhoom 3 (for the time it had decent action, not as bad as sub makes it out to be- even though I doubt I will ever watch it. Total Count- 5 (including PK. 1 = 6 Respect-Earning Film Count- 5 (see above for list) Misses= 1 (Thugs Of Bollywood) mentioned since its only one misfire. Unlike others who gave multiple. Akshay Kumar- Baby, Special 26, Good Newwz, Holiday, Airlift, Mission Mangal, Toilet, Padman, Jolly LLB 2 (as a standalone film) OMG, Gabbar, Desi Boyz, Rustom. Most of these were universally liked, here are some controversial ones I found watchable and even liked them- Patiala House, Thank You, Kesari(though the subject deserves better) So thats 13 + 3 = 16 Respect Earning Films- 10 (Baby, Special 26, Good Newzz, Mission Mangal, Toilet, Padman, Holiday, OMG, Gabbar, Airlift) I might even add Rowdy Rathore as it was excellent for its genre. But I think masala films are not respected at all. Shah Rukh Khan- Let me start here with special mentions first. These are the films I may not have loved, but still have to include as I deem them edible though not delicious. Reasons included since for some its the opposite, some I Loved but people crap on. Lets call this segment GRAY AREA: Don 2 - I liked it though I am aware its not even a good film as its got a wafer thin plot and staying true to to the series, its again style over substance but here the style is better and suits the story more. Yes, the first had a better story, but the style was not right for it. I LOVED the characterization and the style better than first part. Srk finally understood how Don should be portrayed, his only successful attempt at playing an action hero in my opinion. Action is solid. But its Khan who owns this role now, no overacting here. Just Perfect. Happy New Year- Yes, I know this film again gets a lot of hate. But its still a fun watch on Netflix- like Don 2 I wouldn't pay 300 rupees for it. But watch at home when doing chores. It is also very stylish, more fun than Don 2 for sure. No logic. I loved Boman too. Actual heist was good but they completely sidelined, hated the comedy however. It makes sense Farah is working with Rohit Shetty now. Also loved by a few critics- My Name Is Khan- Have I myself rewatched it ever? No. Its a good subject but I wish KJO wasn't director. Still I have to include one good film that benefitted the actors' filmography so it has to be this. Srk was good in few scenes especially. Now as I type this I realize all of his films this decade basically fall in this gray area, and my bias is beginning to show as I feel like including more films of Srk. But I must stay unbiased. I will still include Jab Tak Hai Jaan for Yashji's last film. Nothing special but I think its not too bad. I wish I could say Fan but god it goes off the rail in second half. Too bleak too for a completely ridiculous plot. Sorry. Total Count- 4 films. Must mention to avoid any bias accusations- yes Srk and Aamir have only 2 film gap and I did inflate Srk's list, but I ADMIT unlike Aamir, SRK did act in way more films. And that Srk's films were mostly junk food. Films That May Have Earned Some Respect- My Name Is Khan (1) Respect earning films.

When talking about the usual mindless movies of Salman Khan or any Superstar in general people seem to mix Dabangg with a lot of other films in the same genre. But I think Dabangg is one of the best movies in the genre and deserves some appreciation. Let me explain why. Music: This movie had fantastic music. And not even the typical remade/copied bs unless I am not aware of it. Mast mast do nain, Munni badnaam, title song and there was one other song by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal which were all good. These days it is unlikely to see that many songs from a movie which are replayed so much. Usually, there is one song which stands out at best. Main theme: The theme music was just badass. I don't know if this has been pulled from somewhere because it is awesome. I can't think of any other theme music in Bollywood action movies which was so good. Action: The action of the movie imo was really good for a masala movie. It wasn't extremely over the top (not saying it was completely realistic) but considering Salman flying like Batman in race the action here was good. The fight scene in the Chulbul Pandey introduction, railway scene fight and the fight with Sonu Sood were all good and rewatchable imo. This scene is my personal favorite. Not saying it is realistic but at least it was innovative and didn't look like shit. Great villain: Sonu Sood was a perfect antagonist. Color grading: The movie had a very consistent color grading and even if I see just one scene I would be able to tell that it is a scene from this movie. It is not something that alone makes a movie good but I see that most good movies fit this criteria. Look at the consistent urban grading of Nolan's Dark Knight or The Godfather series. Lagaan is another example that comes to my mind. Obviously not comparing it to these movies but just saying that this movie nailed this. I tried to watch Kick few years later and it was so cheesy or over the top that I had to stop it. Same goes for Race 3, Dhoom 3 etc. For some reason, they just managed to make a really good and rewatchable film which makes sense in a plethora of nonsensical masala movies. The story is simple, in fact, a bit of what the Bollywood films of 70s/80s were but the result was much better imo than what a lot of similar films try to give.
